CCTV Electronic/Video magnification machines

Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV’s) provide electronic /video magnification in a range from 2X to 100X which can be used to view a variety of everyday materials including: books, magazines, letters, bills, photographs, medication containers, playing cards, recipe cards, and other small objects.  All CCTV systems operate under the same premise, to use a camera to magnify and enhance what is placed in front or under the camera.

Computer-Related Assistive Technology
Every individual interacts with a computer uniquely, according to his or her own abilities, limitations, and preferences.  Accessibility options for the visually impaired are separated into four categories:     

• Screen enlargement and enhancement.
• Screen reading and/or tactile output.
• Voice recognition, and multiple disability hardware and software. 
• Capture to Speech software and hardware

With the advancement of operating systems a person can find many of the above basic features imbedded in the newer operating systems (Microsoft Windows 7, Mac Leopard, and Ubunto for Lennex. Additional adaptive software can be added to computers to provide a more robust level of features.

With the development of digital devices and the ability to download documents, audio files and DASI files there has been an influx of players both software and pocket sized devices to enable people to listen to books, documents, music, and webinars via portable devices.
